Nine embossed textures (scales, waves, weave) that catch the light and give the wall real depth.

The Carved Patterns collection dresses our acoustic wall panels with a design carved into the surface of the felt: lines, chevrons, arches, weaves. In large 1200 × 2800 mm strips, the pattern runs from floor to ceiling, and the absorption stays whole: NRC 0.85, fire-certified for public buildings.

The collection
The carving works the felt like a bas-relief: a router cuts the pattern 2 to 4 mm into the surface, without going through the absorbent mass. The result looks nothing like a print or a veneer: the design is part of the panel, with real edges, real shadows, a relief that changes with the hour and the lighting. Raking light sculpts it; soft light melts it back into the material.
That is what sets the collection apart from a merely decorated panel: nothing can flake, peel off or yellow, because the finish is the felt itself. And since the carving only removes a fraction of the thickness, the measured performance remains that of our wall panels: NRC 0.80 at 9 mm, NRC 0.85 at 12 mm, SGS measurements in a reverberation chamber.
The collection belongs to the family of our acoustic wall panels: same material, same install, same certifications. It is the most architectural variation of the range, to be compared with the embossed reliefs, softer, or the fluted slats, more rhythmic.

The patterns
Around fifteen patterns make up the catalogue, ranked from the most discreet to the most assertive. The vertical lines, fine or wide, elongate the room and remain the most sober choice: from a distance, the wall reads like stretched fabric. The diagonals and chevrons energise a corridor or a reception wall. The bricks and weaves give a very tactile material effect, close to a coursed masonry wall. The arches and curves, finally, sign an Art Deco or organic decor that becomes the focal point of the space.
Each pattern is drawn to match from one strip to the next: on a six-metre wall, the design runs without a break or a forced symmetry. The light shades of the colour chart (chalk, greige, sand) bring out the shadows of the carving; the deep shades (charcoal, teal, terracotta) give a velvety finish where the pattern reveals itself as the light changes.
Does your project call for an exclusive design? We carve your drawing (a brand pattern, an architect's motif, an echo of the facade) with a proof approved before production, just like our made-to-measure printed panels.
In real spaces

Where to fit it
Carving is chosen for the most visible walls, where the material has to be felt.
A carved strip from floor to ceiling structures the entrance and sets the tone from the front door, while calming the echo of the lobby.
A large woven or arched span dresses the room like contemporary panelling, and brings the background chatter down.
The polished camera backdrop on video calls: a discreet lined pattern absorbs the voice without pulling attention away.
Diagonals and chevrons give rhythm to the long runs, stand up to rubbing and do not flake.
The install
The large format is the practical asset of the collection: one 1200 × 2800 mm strip covers 3.4 m² in a single piece, without a horizontal joint. Fitting is done by bonding with mounting adhesive on a flat, clean surface: you mark a plumb line, fit the first strip, then each following strip comes to match the pattern. The felt weighs around 2 kg/m²: a full strip is handled by two people, recuts with a utility knife and adjusts around sockets and corners.
On an irregular wall, or for an even more sculptural finish, screw fixing with spacers offsets the panels by 20 to 40 mm: the air gap extends absorption towards the low frequencies and the cast shadow doubles the relief of the carving. It is the mounting we recommend for signature reception walls.
Every order ships with its layout plan, the fitting direction of the patterns and the recommendations suited to your surface. The general guide is in the article how to mount an acoustic panel.
Getting it right
First question: from what distance will the wall be seen? Up close (a corridor, a bench against the wall), the fine patterns reveal their detail and reward the eye; the large weaves, on the other hand, are hard to read at less than a metre. From a distance (a lobby, a large room), reverse the logic: fine lines melt into a plain texture, while arches and wide chevrons keep their design at ten metres.
Second question: what light does the wall receive? Raking light (angled spots, a side window) deepens the shadows and doubles the presence of the pattern: the discreet carvings are enough. Diffuse, frontal lighting flattens the relief: in that case choose a deeper pattern or a mid-tone shade that marks the hollows. On this point, one photo of the room is all we need to advise you.
Third question: is the wall the main actor or the backdrop? A signature reception wall carries the assertive patterns and the bold shades. The back wall of a meeting room or a restaurant gains from staying in the background: vertical lines, a mineral shade, and the whole space looks designed without anyone being able to say why.
When in doubt, we settle it with you on a mock-up: every quote can include a render of the pattern at the scale of your wall, before anything is manufactured. You choose on an image, not on a catalogue page.
Certified measurements
Absorption measured by SGS in a reverberation room (ISO 354, type E mounting with a 200 mm air cavity). Test reports are supplied with every quote.

Alpha-s absorption coefficient per octave band. NRC = average at 250, 500, 1000 and 2000 Hz (SGS reports CZIN2502000039CM01 and CZIN2502000038CM01).
EN 13501-1:2018 (SBI EN 13823 + EN ISO 11925-2 tests): low contribution to fire, s1 smoke, no flaming droplets. Valid for walls, ceilings and free-standing partitions.
ASTM E84-2024: flame spread index 5 (Class A is 0 to 25), smoke developed index 300. The level required for interior walls and ceilings.
VOC emissions tested to ISO 16000: formaldehyde and TVOC not detected on day 7. French A+ label (decree 2011-321), certificate valid until 04/2029.
Felt made from recycled PET bottles, spun then heat-pressed. Production audited to FSC and GRS (Global Recycled Standard), tested by SGS, Intertek and TÜV.

Before ordering, you can receive samples from the colour chart to approve the shade under your own lighting: the colour of a felt shifts between the cool light of an office floor and the warm ambience of a restaurant. The quote then details each strip, its exact dimensions and its pattern, with the render at scale if you asked for one.
Delivery includes the numbered layout plan, the fitting direction of the patterns, the fixing recommendations suited to your surface, plus the complete technical file: the EN 13501-1 B-s1,d0 fire classification report and the measured absorption data sheet, ready for an inspection body or a safety committee. Each panel arrives protected, labelled to match the plan, ready to fit.
