Embossed acoustic panels: the quilted wall.

The Embossed collection moulds the surface of our acoustic wall panels into soft textures: scales, waves, quilting, weaves. The wall takes on a quilted fabric look that catches the light, and keeps its full absorption: NRC 0.85, fire-certified for public buildings.

The collection

The softness of fabric, the resilience of felt.

Embossing happens at the factory: while the felt is still warm, it is moulded under a press, and the texture takes shape in the material itself. No carving, no edges: bumps and hollows with continuous curves, like quilted fabric or buttoned leather. Run your hand over it and the relief feels firm and springs back; look at it in raking light and every bump casts its own soft shadow.

This is the collection for enveloping atmospheres. Where the carved patterns draw sharp, architectural lines, embossing rounds things off: a wall of terracotta scales warms up a restaurant dining room, greige quilting softens a hotel corridor, sand-coloured waves calm a wellness space. All of it without curtains or stretched fabric, so without their dust and their delicate upkeep.

On the numbers, nothing moves: the relief is moulded into the same felt as our wall panels, with the same measured absorption (NRC 0.80 at 9 mm, NRC 0.85 at 12 mm) and the same B-s1,d0 fire rating.

The nine textures

From soft bubbles to diamond points.

The catalogue counts nine references, EM-001 to EM-009, which fall into three temperaments. The organics: soft bubbles, fish scales, flowing waves and raindrops, the most enveloping of all, perfect across a large wall span. The weaves: buttoned quilting, woven chequerboard and fine ribs, which recall upholstery fabric and pair well with padded furniture. The geometrics: diamond points and moulded stripes, more graphic, best used as an accent panel.

The textures reward composition: a quilted lower wall beneath a plain upper section, a chequerboard framing a banquette, two neighbouring textures in two tones of the same tonal family. Embossing also pairs beautifully with printing: a visual printed on a scaled texture gains a depth no flat panel will ever have.

All 36 shades of the colour chart are available on every texture. Mid tones (terracotta, olive, teal) reveal the reliefs best; very light shades play it discreet, very dark ones go full velvet.

Where to fit it

The places that call for softness.

Embossing excels wherever the atmosphere should envelop rather than impress.

Hotel & hospitality

Corridors, headboard walls, lounges: felt quilting evokes luxury fabric and absorbs the voices of passing guests.

Cosy restaurant

Scales and waves in warm tones warm up the dining room and bring the hubbub down without a technical feel.

Wellness space

Treatment rooms, yoga studios, quiet rooms: the soft texture matches the purpose of the place.

Reception & lounge

An embossed section behind the seating marks out the relaxation corner and shields it from passing noise.

Fitting & maintenance

As simple as a flat panel.

Embossing changes nothing about the install: the panels are bonded with mounting adhesive on a flat surface, or screwed with spacers on an irregular wall. The felt stays light, around 2 kg/m²: a full wall goes up in a few hours, with no major building work. The panels recut with a utility knife, and the texture matches visually from one panel to the next.

Day to day, the moulded relief lives very well: press it and it springs back, rubbing does not polish it shiny, and unlike real fabric quilting, nothing comes unstitched and nothing traps odours. A soft-brush vacuum follows the hollows effortlessly; a stain is treated with a damp cloth and neutral soap.

The detail of the material and its recycled share is on the PET felt data sheet, and the fixing recommendations in the article how to mount an acoustic panel.

Composing well

Pairing textures and colours without a false note.

The golden rule of embossing fits in one sentence: one strong texture, or two soft textures, never three. Buttoned quilting can cover an entire wall without tiring the eye; adding scales and waves to the same surface muddles the reading. If you want to compose, stay within the same family (two organics, two weaves) and separate the zones with a clean line: lower wall and upper section, or an accent panel framed in plain felt.

On colour, relief loves mid tones: terracotta, olive, teal, deep greige. Enough substance for the shadows to draw themselves, enough softness for the wall to remain a backdrop. Very light shades (chalk, sand) play total discretion, perfect in a hotel room; very dark ones (charcoal, navy) create a spectacular velvet effect but need good lighting so the relief does not disappear.

Think, finally, about the dialogue with the furniture: embossing evokes fabric, so it pairs naturally with upholstered seating, curtains and rugs. Felt quilting on the wall answers a buttoned banquette; fine ribs echo a corduroy throw. This play of echoes is what gives a place the coherence of a decorated home, without a decorator.

Every quote can include a composition proposal on a photo of your room: textures, shades and layout placed on the image before manufacturing. You compare two or three options at the real scale of your wall, with your furniture in the frame, and you decide on something concrete rather than on a sample square. It is often at this stage that a shortlisted texture gives way to its neighbour, and the project finds its balance.

What the order includes

Samples, mock-up, technical file.

Texture is a matter of touch: before ordering, ask for embossed samples from the colour chart to judge the relief and the shade under your actual lighting. The quote then details every panel, its texture and its dimensions, with a composition proposal on a photo of your room if you wish.

On delivery, every panel arrives labelled according to the layout plan, with fitting recommendations suited to your surface and the complete technical file: the EN 13501-1 B-s1,d0 fire classification report and the laboratory-measured absorption data sheet. Everything you need to answer a building inspector without hunting for a single document.

Frequently asked questions

Embossed panels: your questions.

What is an embossed acoustic panel?
It is a PET felt wall panel whose surface is moulded in relief by heat pressing: scales, waves, quilting, weaves, raindrops. Unlike engraving, which carves into the material, embossing sculpts it gently, with no sharp edge: the result looks like quilted fabric or buttoned leather. It is a finish of our wall panels: same felt, same NRC 0.80 to 0.85 absorption, same B-s1,d0 fire certification.
Which textures make up the collection?
Nine references, from the softest to the most graphic: soft bubbles, fish scales, flowing waves, diamond points, buttoned quilting, moulded stripes, woven chequerboard, raindrops and fine ribs. The textures combine well with each other on a single wall, in close tonal shades, to build a quilted patchwork.
Does embossing change the acoustic performance?
No, it can even improve it slightly. The relief increases the contact surface between the air and the felt, and the hollows break up grazing reflections. The reference values remain the laboratory measurements on our felt: NRC 0.80 at 9 mm and 0.85 at 12 mm. So you choose the texture for the style, never at the expense of sound comfort.
Where should embossed panels be fitted?
Anywhere a soft, enveloping atmosphere is wanted: hotel rooms and corridors, reception lounges, cosy restaurants, wellness spaces, quiet rooms. The quilted look suggests high-end fabric without its cleaning constraints. The more graphic textures (diamond points, chequerboard) also work as the feature wall of a meeting room.
How do you care for an embossed panel?
Like all our felt: a soft-brush vacuum for dust, a damp cloth and neutral soap for a stain. Because the relief is moulded into the material itself, it can neither flatten permanently nor peel off: press it with a finger and it springs back within seconds. The material does not yellow and does not crumble.
What sizes, shades and lead times?
Embossed panels are made to the dimensions of your wall, in the 36 shades of the colour chart, in 9 or 12 mm. The quote is free and costed within 48 h; made-to-measure production and DDP delivery (duties and taxes included) take 10 to 15 working days.
